Nakagawa walk

This city river walk has some charm for me. There's contrast and interest but, when walking upstream, even in this still relatively urban area, there's a real sense of walking away from the noise and grime, towards the sylvan calm. Moving just a couple of miles north of the major train and road arteries that run through this area, linking Tokyo to its north-eastern satellite towns, brings us to a different greener, fresher, much less oppressive world. I've said it before and I'm sure I'll say it again; Tokyo is one of the world's biggest sprawling conurbations, and while it may not be the most 'beautiful' city, it is a city full of beauty.
